COMPULSORY INSURANCE “ACCIDENT” OF THE PASSENGERS IN THE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION VEHICLES
The General terms and condition of that insurance are regulated by the Insurance code /Chapter XXV/ and regulation 24 from 08.03.2006.
Subject of the insurance
The carriers, who are performing public transportation of passengers, when the start and end point of the journey are at the territory of Republic of Bulgaria, are obliged to conclude and maintain the compulsory insurance “Accident” of the passengers.
Vehicles for public transportation of passengers are:
rail vehicles;
trolleys and buses;
aircrafts;
all type of marine and river crafts;
lifts and drags;
taxi vehicles;
Subject of the compulsory insurance “Accident” are the health, life and bodily integrity of the passengers in the public transportation vehicles.
As passengers are considered the individuals, located at the vehicles or in the immediate vicinity to them, before boarding and after getting off/ debarkation.
The health, life and bodily integrity of the vehicle’s drivers and servicing personnel are not subject to the insurance.
Covered risks
Death of a passenger;
Permanent disability of a passenger.
Insurance sum
The minimum insurance sum of the compulsory insurance “Accident” of the passengers for each event for each passenger is 50,000 BGN.
Insurance premium
– as per the enforced tariff of the insurer. It can be determined in one of the following two ways:
insurance premium per passenger’s seat.
percentage of the realized incomes.
Insurance term
– one year.
As an accident are also considered:
dislocations, tension or breaking of tissues, caused by the sudden tension of own forces;
infections, where the infectious matter has penetrated in the organism of the injured individual;
bodily injuries or death, that occurred during the transportation when saving own or somebody else’s life or property.
